Thunderbird Integration
Answer customer emails in Thunderbird with replies from your own knowledge base
Overview
Thunderbird is the free email app for Windows, macOS and Linux. The Asyntai add-on lets the chatbot on your website write your email replies too. Open a customer email, press one button, and a reply opens as a draft, written from the same knowledge base your chatbot uses.
You read every reply before you send it, and you can change anything in it.
What It Does
- Drafts replies. Press Asyntai in the header of an open email, then Draft reply. A reply opens with the answer above the quoted email, in the customer's own language.
- Writes in an open reply. Already replying? Press Asyntai in the toolbar of the reply window, then Write reply.
- Follows your extra instructions. Type a short note before you press the button, for example keep it short or offer a call next week.
- Adds emails to your knowledge base. Press Add email to knowledge base to store a useful email, so your chatbot and your future replies can use it.
- Works from the message list. Right-click an email for Draft reply with Asyntai and Add to Asyntai knowledge base. Select several emails to add them all at once.
Requirements
- Thunderbird 140 or newer, on Windows, macOS or Linux
- An Asyntai account on the Starter plan or higher, because the add-on uses the Asyntai API
Installation
Follow these steps to connect Thunderbird to Asyntai:
Install the Add-on
In Thunderbird, open Tools → Add-ons and Themes, search for Asyntai AI Reply Assistant, and press Add to Thunderbird. The settings page opens.
Get Your API Key
Sign in to Asyntai, open Settings, then API, and copy your API key.
Paste the Key
Paste the key into API key and press Save. The page shows your account, your plan and the messages you used this month.
Choose the Website
If your account has more than one website, choose the one whose knowledge base and AI instructions the replies use. With one website there is nothing to choose.
Draft Your First Reply
Open a customer email, press Asyntai in the message header, and press Draft reply.
Tip: The replies follow the AI instructions of your website. Write your sign-off and tone there once, and every reply uses them.
Settings Later
Open Tools → Add-ons and Themes, find Asyntai AI Reply Assistant, and choose Options. The Settings link in the Asyntai button opens the same page.
Removing It
Open Tools → Add-ons and Themes, find Asyntai AI Reply Assistant, and choose Remove. Emails you added stay in your knowledge base until you delete them in your Asyntai dashboard.
Plans & Pricing
The add-on is free. Each reply counts as one message of your monthly allowance. The Asyntai API needs the Starter plan or higher. View pricing.
