Switching From Another Chatbot

Bring your existing content across instead of rebuilding it

Start Moving

Overview

If you already run a chatbot somewhere else, you do not need to start from nothing. Most of what makes your current bot useful is content you have already written, and that content can move with you.

There are three things worth bringing across: your website, your help center, and any questions and answers you wrote by hand. The first happens automatically. The other two take a few minutes each.

Tip: You do not have to cancel your current tool first. Run Asyntai alongside it, compare the answers on real visitor questions, and remove the old widget once you are satisfied.

Step 1: Your Website

Enter your website address and the crawler reads the site itself — product pages, policies, pricing, blog posts, and support content. Your AI answers from that material directly, so there are no flows to redraw and no scripts to write.

  1. Go to Crawl in your dashboard
  2. Enter your website address and choose Automatic mode
  3. Click Start Crawling and wait for it to finish

How many pages get read depends on your plan: 50 on Free, 250 on Starter, 1,000 on Standard, and 5,000 on Pro.

Note: If parts of your site sit behind a login, paid plans can crawl those pages too once you supply the sign-in details.

Step 2: Your Help Center

Support articles usually live on a separate address — something like help.yourcompany.com or support.yourcompany.com rather than the main website. A crawl that starts at your homepage will not reach them, which means the richest source of answers you own gets missed.

Point the crawler at the help center directly instead:

  1. Start a new crawl in Automatic mode
  2. Turn on the Crawl a Specific Subdomain or URL toggle
  3. Enter the help center address, for example https://help.yoursite.com
  4. Click Start Crawling

Years of support writing you already paid for, working from the first day.

Step 3: Questions You Wrote By Hand

This is the part worth protecting. Somewhere in your current tool is a list of answers you wrote yourself — refund wording, sizing explanations, the question customers always ask that no page on your site actually covers. That work does not need to be repeated.

Export it from your current tool as a spreadsheet, then upload the file:

  1. Export your questions and answers as a CSV or Excel file
  2. Go to Add Content and choose Upload Spreadsheet
  3. Select your file and confirm which columns hold the questions and answers

Row limits depend on your plan: 100 on Free, 500 on Starter, 2,000 on Standard, and 10,000 on Pro.

Tip: You can also paste questions and answers as plain text in your AI Instructions. Write each pair on its own lines starting with Question: and Answer:, and they will be split into separate entries automatically.

What Moves and What Does Not

Content Moves Across
Everything published on your website Yes, automatically
Help center and documentation articles Yes, with a second crawl
Hand-written questions and answers Yes, by spreadsheet upload
PDFs and documents Yes, by file upload
Pages behind a login Yes, on paid plans
Past chat transcripts and statistics No, these start fresh
Flow-builder branches and decision trees No, and usually not needed
Contact lists No, these belong in your email tool

Do I Need to Rebuild My Flows?

Usually not, and this surprises people. Flows exist because older chatbots cannot understand a question they were not explicitly given, so every path has to be drawn in advance.

Asyntai answers from your content instead. A branch you built to handle where is my order is replaced by the assistant reading your shipping page. Bring across any wording you are attached to as questions and answers, and leave the branching behind.

Before You Cancel Your Old Tool

Export your past conversations while you still have access. They will not import into Asyntai, but reading through your most common past questions is the fastest way to find gaps worth writing answers for.

Note: Check your old widget is fully removed from your site once you finish. Two chat widgets on the same page confuses visitors and makes your reply statistics harder to read.

Matching Your Old Widget

Colours, position, greeting message, avatar, and wording are all yours to set, so the widget can sit as close to your previous one as you like. See Customization for the full list of options.
