HumHub Integration

An AI assistant that answers questions on your HumHub network

Go to Dashboard

Overview

The HumHub module puts an AI assistant on your network. A chat button sits in the corner of every page, people ask a question in their own words, and the answer comes from your own content: your website, your uploaded documents and your help centre articles.

AI disclaimer: Answers on your network are generated by AI. They may sometimes be inaccurate or incomplete and should be verified before you rely on them, especially for important decisions.

How It Works

The module adds one small script to the end of every page, through the layout that every HumHub theme uses. That script waits for the page to finish loading, then fetches the chat widget from Asyntai, so your network draws first and page speed is unchanged. Your server never talks to Asyntai; only the visitor's browser does.

Requirements

  • An Asyntai account. The free plan is enough to start.
  • A HumHub network, version 1.16 or newer, on PHP 7.4 or newer.
  • Administrator access to that network.

Installation

Follow these steps to add Asyntai to your HumHub network:

1

Install the module

In the administration area, open Modules, then Add more modules. Find Asyntai AI Chatbot in the marketplace and press Install.

2

Enable it

The module appears under Modules. Press Enable.

3

Paste your widget ID

Press Configure next to Asyntai AI Chatbot. Paste your widget ID and press Save. You find the ID in your Asyntai Dashboard under Setup & Integration. You can paste the whole snippet; the module keeps only the ID.

4

Open your network

That's it — the chat button appears in the corner of every page. The chat is off while the widget ID field is empty, so you can switch it off at any time by clearing that field.

Tip: Point the AI at your community rules, FAQs, and help articles from your Asyntai Dashboard so it answers questions specific to your community.

Settings

  • Widget ID: the chat is on while this holds a valid ID, and off when it is empty.
  • Show the chat to guests only: members who are signed in never see the chat. Useful when the assistant is there to help people who have not joined yet.
  • Widget script address: leave this as it is unless Asyntai support asks you to change it.

What the Assistant Can Do

  • Answer questions instantly, 24/7, on every page of your network
  • Respond in more than 80 languages, automatically detected from the question
  • Stay open while the visitor moves between spaces and pages
  • Use your own uploaded docs, FAQs, and instructions to give accurate answers

Example Use Cases

  • Company intranets: staff ask about policies and processes without opening a ticket
  • New members: newcomers ask about the rules and how to join a space
  • Schools and universities: instant answers about terms, courses and deadlines
  • Multilingual communities: everyone asks in their own language and gets answers in kind

Themes

The chat is added through the page layout that every theme inherits. So it works with the default theme and with every theme you install, with nothing to change.

Privacy

The module publishes exactly two values to the page: the widget ID and the script address. Nothing about your members or your posts is sent to Asyntai. Only the visitor's browser talks to Asyntai, and only when the visitor opens the chat.

Plans & Pricing

The HumHub module is free, and the integration is available on all Asyntai plans, including Free. Each plan includes a monthly message allowance shared across all your channels and integrations. View pricing.

Uninstalling

Clear the widget ID field to switch the chat off, or disable the module under Modules in the administration area. The chat disappears from your network straight away, and every setting the module stored is removed.
