Learn how to use Asyntai

FOSSBilling Integration

Put an AI assistant on your hosting client area

Go to Dashboard

Overview

FOSSBilling is the free, open-source billing and client management system that many web hosting companies run. The Asyntai module adds an AI chat assistant to your client area, and it can send your knowledge base articles to Asyntai so the assistant answers with what you have already written.

Two jobs, one module. The assistant appears on your client area, and your own articles become the material it answers from. You can use either half on its own.

How It Works

The module holds no API key. When you install it, it creates a random token for your installation. You follow a connect link once, sign in to Asyntai and choose which of your websites the client area belongs to. From then on the module is linked, and the chat widget appears on every client area page.

Requirements

  • FOSSBilling 0.8.0 or newer.
  • An Asyntai account. The free plan is enough to start.
  • Administrator access to your FOSSBilling installation.

Installation

Follow these steps to add the assistant to your client area:

1

Install the module

In your FOSSBilling admin area, open Extensions and find Asyntai AI Chatbot. Select Install, then Activate.

2

Open the settings page

Select Settings next to the module. The page tells you that the installation is not connected yet.

3

Connect to Asyntai

Select Connect to Asyntai. Sign in, or create a free account, and choose which of your websites this client area belongs to. This only has to be done once.

4

Reload the settings page

Come back to FOSSBilling and reload the page. It now says Connected, and the chat widget is live on your client area.

5

Send your articles

Choose what Asyntai may read, then select Send now. Use Count what would be sent first if you want to see the number before you commit.

Tip: Your knowledge base answers the questions your customers ask most: how to pay an invoice, when a service renews, how to point a domain. Every one the assistant answers is a support ticket nobody has to open. You can add other sources at any time from your Asyntai Dashboard.

Where The Assistant Appears

The widget appears on every page of your client area: the dashboard, the order pages, the knowledge base, the ticket pages and the sign-in page. You can turn it off from the settings page without uninstalling the module.

What Gets Sent

You choose which of these Asyntai may read:

  • Knowledge base articles: the title and text of every published article
  • News posts: your published announcements, such as planned maintenance
  • Custom pages: the pages you wrote yourself, if your version has that module

Markup is removed before anything is sent, so the assistant reads plain text. Up to 500 items are sent at a time.

What Is Left Out

  • Drafts and disabled articles, which no visitor can read
  • Support tickets, which belong to one customer
  • Invoices, orders, client records and payment details
  • Anything a signed-out visitor cannot already see on your site

Nothing private ever leaves your server. The module collects content the same way a signed-out visitor sees it. A draft article is invisible to that view, so it cannot be sent by accident.

Keeping It Up To Date

Select Send now again whenever you edit your articles. Sending is safe to repeat: an article that is already in Asyntai is updated in place, never duplicated.

Example Use Cases

  • Billing questions: customers ask how to pay an invoice instead of opening a ticket
  • Renewals: the assistant explains when a service renews and how to switch that off
  • Before they buy: visitors on the order page ask what a plan includes
  • Out of hours: your customers get an answer at three in the morning

If Asyntai Cannot Be Reached

Your client area is never held up. The module stores what it needs, so a page never waits for a call to Asyntai. If our service is unreachable, your client area loads exactly as fast as before and the chat simply does not open.

Privacy

The module reads only. It never edits, creates or deletes anything in FOSSBilling. It holds no Asyntai API key, so the token stored on your server cannot be used to read anything out of your Asyntai account. You can end the connection at any time from your Asyntai dashboard.

Plans & Pricing

The FOSSBilling integration is available on all Asyntai plans, including Free. Each plan includes a monthly message allowance shared across all your channels and integrations. View pricing.

Uninstalling

Open Extensions in FOSSBilling and deactivate the module. The widget disappears from your client area at once. You can also disconnect it from your Asyntai dashboard, which turns off the connection from our side.
