Rocket.Chat Integration

An AI assistant that answers questions inside your Rocket.Chat workspace

Paid Plan Required: API access is available on Starter, Standard, and Pro plans. View pricing

Overview

The Rocket.Chat app puts an AI assistant inside your workspace. Your team asks a question with a slash command in any channel, or in a private direct message with the Asyntai bot, and the answer comes back from your own content: your website, your uploaded documents, and your help centre articles.

AI disclaimer: Answers in Rocket.Chat are generated by AI. They may sometimes be inaccurate or incomplete and should be verified before you rely on them, especially for important decisions.

How It Works

The app runs inside your own Rocket.Chat server. When somebody asks a question, the app sends the question text to the Asyntai API, receives the answer, and posts it in the same room. Each room and person gets their own conversation, so follow-up questions are understood against what was asked before.

Requirements

  • An Asyntai account on a paid plan, because the app uses the Asyntai API
  • Rocket.Chat 6.0 or newer, self managed or on Rocket.Chat Cloud
  • An administrator account on the Rocket.Chat workspace
  • The workspace connected to Rocket.Chat Cloud, which is what gives it access to the Marketplace

Installation

Follow these steps to add Asyntai to your Rocket.Chat workspace:

1

Copy Your API Key

Open the API Settings page in your Asyntai dashboard and copy your API key. Keep it to hand for step 3.

2

Install the App

In Rocket.Chat, sign in as an administrator and go to Administration, then Marketplace. Search for Asyntai, open the app, and click Install. Rocket.Chat asks you to accept the permissions the app needs.

3

Paste the API Key

Go to Administration, Marketplace, Installed, and open Asyntai AI Chatbot. Open the Settings tab and paste your API key into the Asyntai API key field. Save the change.

4

Ask a Question

The app is now live. There are two ways to use it:

  • In any channel, type the slash command followed by your question:
/asyntai how do I reset my password
  • Or open a direct message with the Asyntai bot from your sidebar and hold a normal conversation.

Tip: Point the AI at your internal docs, FAQs, and handbook from your Asyntai Dashboard so it answers questions specific to your team and processes.

Settings

The app has four settings, under Administration, Marketplace, Installed, Asyntai AI Chatbot, Settings:

  • Asyntai API key. Required. The app does nothing until this is filled in.
  • Website ID. Optional. Leave it empty to use your primary website in Asyntai. Set a numeric ID to ask a different one.
  • Answer direct messages to the Asyntai bot. On by default. Turn it off to leave only the slash command.
  • API address. Optional. Leave it empty. Only change it if Asyntai support asks you to.

What the Bot Can Do

  • Answer team questions instantly, 24/7, in direct messages or channels
  • Respond in 36 languages, automatically detected from the message
  • Keep conversation context within each channel or DM
  • Use your own uploaded docs, FAQs, and instructions to give accurate answers
  • Show the question next to the answer in the channel, so the whole team can follow the exchange

Note: Rocket.Chat keeps the reply to a slash command private to the person who typed it. The app therefore posts the question under that person's name and the answer under the Asyntai bot, so the room reads as a normal conversation.

Example Use Cases

  • Employee onboarding: new hires ask the bot about policies, tools, and processes
  • Internal support desk: the bot takes the repetitive questions so your team answers the rest
  • Knowledge lookup: instant answers from your wiki and documentation without searching
  • Multilingual teams: everyone asks in their own language and gets answers in kind

Privacy

The app sends the question text to the Asyntai API, together with a conversation identifier built from the Rocket.Chat room ID and user ID. No name, username, or email address is sent, and messages from other conversations are never read. Inside Rocket.Chat the app stores nothing except its own settings.

Plans & Pricing

The Rocket.Chat app needs a paid Asyntai plan, because API access is not part of the Free plan. Each plan includes a monthly message allowance shared across all your channels and integrations. View pricing.

Uninstalling

Go to Administration, Marketplace, Installed, open Asyntai AI Chatbot, and choose Uninstall from the menu next to the app name. The bot stops answering immediately.
