Overview

The Asyntai extension adds a panel to your Airtable base. It does two jobs. It answers questions from your own content, and it sends a table to your Asyntai knowledge base so the chat widget on your website can answer from those rows.

AI disclaimer: Answers in the panel are generated by AI. They may sometimes be inaccurate or incomplete and should be verified before you rely on them, especially for important decisions.

How It Works

An Airtable extension runs in your browser, not on a server. The panel sends your question straight from the base to the Asyntai API and shows the answer. When you send a table, the extension reads the rows of the view you choose, turns each row into text, and adds that text to your knowledge base as one item.

Requirements

  • An Asyntai account on a paid plan, because the extension uses the Asyntai API
  • An Airtable account, on any plan that allows extensions
  • Edit rights on the base, to save the settings

Installation

Follow these steps to add Asyntai to your base:

1

Copy Your API Key

Open the API Settings page in your Asyntai dashboard and copy your API key.

2

Add the Extension

In your base, click Extensions in the side bar, then Add an extension. Find Asyntai in the marketplace list and add it. The panel opens beside your table.

3

Paste the API Key

The panel opens on its settings screen. Paste your API key and click Save. Leave Website ID empty to use your primary website in Asyntai.

4

Ask a Question

Type a question in the box and press Enter. The answer comes from your own content, and follow-up questions keep their context.

Sending a Table to Your Knowledge Base

Under the ask box, choose a table and a view, then click Send to knowledge base. Every row becomes a block of text, with the field name in front of each value, so a price stays connected to the product it belongs to.

  • Empty fields are left out, and rows with nothing in them are skipped
  • Up to 500 records go in one upload
  • The item is named after the table and the view, so a later upload of the same view is easy to find
  • Send it again whenever the table changes. The extension does not watch the table for you, because it only runs while the panel is open.

Tip: Use a filtered view for the rows you want the chatbot to know about. A view with the products you actually sell gives better answers than a table that still holds drafts and old rows.

Settings

  • Asyntai API key. Required. Nothing is sent to Asyntai until it is filled in.
  • Website ID. Optional. Leave it empty to use your primary website. Set a numeric ID to use a different one.

Who Can See the API Key

An Airtable extension has no private storage. The key is kept with the extension in the base, so anybody who can edit that base can read it. Use a key you are willing to share with your collaborators, and give the extension its own base if that matters to you. The panel says the same thing on its settings screen.

Example Use Cases

  • Product catalogue: send your product table, so the chat widget answers questions about stock, prices and sizes
  • Questions and answers: keep your answers in a table, and upload them whenever they change
  • Working in the base: ask about a policy or a process without leaving Airtable
  • Teams in several countries: ask in your own language and get the answer in it

Privacy

Asyntai receives the text of your question, and the rows of the view you choose to send. Nothing else in the base is read, and no table is read until you press the button. The extension does not send your Airtable account, your collaborators or your file attachments.

Questions, answers and uploaded rows are stored in your Asyntai account, so you can read them in your dashboard. Remove an uploaded item there at any time. Privacy policy.

Plans & Pricing

The extension needs a paid Asyntai plan, because API access is not part of the Free plan. Each plan includes a monthly message allowance, shared across your website widget and all your integrations. View pricing.

Removing the Extension

Open the extension menu in your base and choose Delete. The settings go with it, including the API key. Content you already sent stays in your knowledge base until you remove it in your Asyntai dashboard.
