Meltano Integration
Load your Asyntai chats, leads and tickets into your own data warehouse
Overview
Meltano is an open source data pipeline tool. It copies data out of the services a company uses and loads it into one database. A piece that reads one service is called a tap.
tap-asyntai is the Asyntai tap. It puts every chat, every message, every lead and every ticket into your warehouse, next to your sales and product data. Your analysts then answer questions that need both sides: which pages start the most chats, which questions come before a purchase, and how fast your team answers.
What You Get
The tap creates four tables:
- sessions — one row per chat, with the page, the country, the message count and the reply times
- messages — one row per message, with the full text and who wrote it
- leads — the chats where the visitor left an email address or a phone number
- tickets — support tickets, with the times they were assigned, answered and resolved
All four tables carry session_id, so they join into one picture of a conversation.
Requirements
- Meltano, or any tool that runs Singer taps
- Python 3.9 or newer
- An Asyntai account on the Starter plan or higher, because the tap uses the Asyntai API
Installation
Follow these steps to load Asyntai data:
Get Your API Key
Sign in to Asyntai, open Settings, then API, and copy your API key.
Add the Tap
In your Meltano project, run:
meltano add extractor tap-asyntai
Set the API Key
Keep the key in an environment variable, so it never sits in a file:
meltano config tap-asyntai set api_key $ASYNTAI_API_KEY
Run It
Send the data to any Singer target, for example Postgres:
meltano run tap-asyntai target-postgres
The four tables appear in your database. Run the same command again on a schedule.
Settings
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
api_key | — | Your Asyntai API key. Required. |
start_date | — | Earliest record to read on the first run. |
website_id | — | Read one website only. Leave empty for every website. |
page_size | 100 | Rows per request. The API allows 100 at most. |
api_url | https://asyntai.com | Base address of the API. |
Repeat Runs
The tap remembers where it stopped. The second run reads only chats, leads and tickets that are newer than the last one, so a daily pipeline stays fast even after years of chats.
Tip: The tap works with any Singer target, not only Meltano. Run it on its own with tap-asyntai --config config.json and pipe the output into the loader of your choice.
Without Meltano
Install the package on its own and give it a JSON file with your settings:
pipx install tap-asyntai
tap-asyntai --config config.json
Privacy
The tap reads your own Asyntai account with your own API key, and writes into the database you name. Privacy policy.
Plans & Pricing
The tap is free and open source. It uses the Asyntai API, which needs the Starter plan or higher. View pricing.
