MyBB Integration

An AI assistant that answers questions on your MyBB board

Overview

The MyBB plugin puts an AI assistant on your board. A chat button sits in the corner of every page, visitors ask a question in their own words, and the answer comes from your own content: your website, your uploaded documents and your help centre articles.

AI disclaimer: Answers on your forum are generated by AI. They may sometimes be inaccurate or incomplete and should be verified before you rely on them, especially for important decisions.

How It Works

The plugin adds one small script before the closing body tag of every board page, so it works with every theme. That script waits for the page to finish loading, then fetches the chat widget from Asyntai, so your board draws first and page speed is unchanged.

Requirements

  • An Asyntai account. The free plan is enough to start.
  • A MyBB board, version 1.8 or newer.
  • Administrator access to that forum.

Installation

Follow these steps to add Asyntai to your MyBB board:

Upload the plugin

Unpack the download and copy the asyntai.php file into the plugins folder of your board, so that the file ends up in this location:

Install and activate the plugin

In the Admin CP, open Configuration and then Plugins. Find Asyntai AI Chatbot in the list and select Install & Activate.

Paste your widget ID

Open Configuration, then Settings, and select Asyntai AI Chatbot. Paste your widget ID and select Save Settings. You find the ID in your Asyntai Dashboard under Setup & Integration. You can paste the whole snippet; the plugin keeps only the ID.

Open your board

That's it — the chat button appears in the corner of every board page. The chat is off while the widget ID field is empty, so you can switch it off at any time by clearing that field.

Tip: Point the AI at your forum rules, FAQs, and help articles from your Asyntai Dashboard so it answers questions specific to your community.

Settings

  • Asyntai widget ID: the chat is on while this holds a valid ID, and off when it is empty.
  • Show the chat only to guests: members who are signed in never see the chat. Useful when the assistant is there to help newcomers rather than regulars.
  • Script address: leave this as it is unless you host the widget yourself.

  • Answer visitor questions instantly, 24/7, on every forum page
  • Respond in more than 80 languages, automatically detected from the question
  • Stay open while the visitor moves between categories and topics
  • Use your own uploaded docs, FAQs, and instructions to give accurate answers

  • New members: newcomers ask about rules and how to post without opening a topic
  • Product communities: instant answers from your documentation next to the discussion
  • Multilingual forums: everyone asks in their own language and gets answers in kind

Themes

The chat is added to the finished page, not to a template, so it works with the default theme and with every custom theme. No template edits are needed.

Privacy

The conversation runs between the visitor's browser and Asyntai, and every chat appears in your Asyntai dashboard with the page it started on.

Plans & Pricing

The MyBB integration is available on all Asyntai plans, including Free. Each plan includes a monthly message allowance shared across all your channels and integrations. View pricing.

Uninstalling

Clear the widget ID field to switch the chat off, or deactivate the plugin under Configuration and Plugins. The chat disappears from your board straight away. Uninstall removes the settings as well.
