Every Front End Page, Straight Away

Once the ID is saved, the chat bubble appears on every front end page through Contao's own page hook. You do not touch a layout, a template or an article, and you do not need to remember to add it to the next page you build.

The Standard Page Hook

The script is added through Contao's generatePage hook, at the end of the body. Nothing is patched, no core file is touched, and an update to Contao cannot break it.

German And English Labels

The back end labels ship in German and English, so the setting reads properly for the many Contao teams who work in German all day.

Open a free Asyntai account, add your website address, and let it read your pages. Upload price lists, terms or manuals if the answers live in documents.

In the Contao Manager, search for Asyntai and install it. On the command line it is one Composer command and the usual database update.

Go to System › Settings, paste the snippet into the Asyntai widget ID field, and save. Reload your site and the bubble is there.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Contao agencies ask before installing it on a client site

Do I need to edit a template or a layout?
No. The extension uses Contao's generatePage hook to add the script at the end of the body. Your templates, layouts and articles stay exactly as they are, which also means an update never overwrites your change.
Will it slow the site down?
The loader waits for the page load event before it fetches anything, so your own content renders first. The tag itself is a few hundred bytes of inline JavaScript with no library behind it.
Which Contao versions does it support?
Contao 5.3 and later, on PHP 8.2 or later. It was built and tested on Contao 5.7. On an older Contao 4 site you can still use Asyntai by pasting the snippet into your page layout by hand.
Where do the answers come from?
From your own material: the pages Asyntai reads on your site, the documents you upload, and the instructions you write in the dashboard. Where your content says nothing, the assistant says it does not know rather than inventing an answer.
Can I run it on one site and not another?
The setting belongs to the Contao installation, so each installation has its own widget ID. Give every client site its own Asyntai website and each one answers from its own content, with its own chat history.
How do I remove it?
Clear the widget ID field to switch the chat off, or uninstall the extension in the Contao Manager. Nothing is left behind: there are no tables to drop and no template to put back.
