Visual Studio Code Integration

Your website chats, leads and tickets in the editor you already have open

Overview

Asyntai answers your visitors on your website. The Visual Studio Code extension brings those conversations to you. Open the Asyntai icon in the activity bar and you see the newest chats, the visitors who left an address, and your support tickets.

You fix the bug and answer the person in the same window.

What It Does

  • Recent Chats shows the newest conversations from your website. Click one and the whole conversation opens as a tab, visitor and assistant turn by turn.
  • Leads shows every visitor who left an email address or a phone number in the chat. Click one to read the conversation that produced it.
  • Tickets shows your support tickets with the subject, the number and the status. Click one to read the chat behind it.
  • Ask My Chatbot sends a question to your own agent and opens the answer in a tab. It is the same answer your visitors get.

Requirements

  • Visual Studio Code 1.85 or newer
  • An Asyntai account on the Starter plan or higher, because the extension uses the Asyntai API

Installation

Follow these steps to add Asyntai to Visual Studio Code:

Get Your API Key

Sign in to Asyntai, open Settings, then API, and copy your API key.

Install the Extension

In Visual Studio Code open the Extensions panel, search for Asyntai AI Chatbot, and press Install.

Paste the API Key

Open the command palette with Ctrl+Shift+P, run Asyntai: Set API Key, and paste your key. The editor keeps it in its own secret store.

Open the Sidebar

Press the Asyntai icon in the activity bar on the left. The three lists fill at once.

Commands

Every command is in the command palette under Asyntai:

  • Asyntai: Set API Key connects your account.
  • Asyntai: Ask My Chatbot asks a question and opens the answer in a tab.
  • Asyntai: Refresh loads the three lists again.
  • Asyntai: Sign Out removes the key from this machine.

Settings

Open File → Preferences → Settings and search for Asyntai:

  • Item limit sets how many rows each list loads. The default is 20.
  • Base URL sets the Asyntai server. Change this only if you run Asyntai on your own address.

Tip: Right-click any row and choose Open in Asyntai to read the same conversation in your browser, where you can reply to the visitor.

Removing It

Run Asyntai: Sign Out to remove the key, then uninstall the extension from the Extensions panel.
