Turn your Joplin notes into the knowledge base of your website chatbot
Overview
Joplin is a notes app that keeps your notes as Markdown on your own devices. The Asyntai plugin connects your notebooks to your website chatbot. Choose the notebooks, and every note in them becomes an answer the assistant can give your visitors.
The plugin also opens a panel inside Joplin. Ask your chatbot a question there, read the latest website chats and leads, and save any chat as a note.
What It Does
- Sends notes to the knowledge base. Every note in the chosen notebooks goes to Asyntai. An edit replaces the entry, and a note you delete or move away is taken out.
- Answers questions inside Joplin. The panel gives you the same answer the chatbot gives your visitors. Press Insert into note to put it in the note you are writing.
- Shows website chats and leads. The panel lists the latest conversations and every visitor who left an email address or a phone number. Save a whole conversation as a note with one press.
Requirements
- Joplin 3.0 or newer, on Windows, macOS or Linux
- An Asyntai account on the Starter plan or higher, because the plugin uses the Asyntai API
Installation
Follow these steps to connect Joplin to Asyntai:
Install the Plugin
In Joplin, open Tools → Options → Plugins, search for Asyntai AI Chatbot, and press Install. Restart Joplin.
Get Your API Key
Sign in to Asyntai, open Settings, then API, and copy your API key.
Paste the Key
In Joplin, open Tools → Options → Asyntai AI Chatbot and paste your key into the API key box.
Choose the Notebooks
In Notebooks to send, write one notebook path per line, for example Work/Support. Write / to send every notebook. An empty box sends nothing.
Send Your Notes
Open the panel with the Asyntai button in the note toolbar, choose the Notes tab, and press Send all notes. The header then shows how many notes are in your knowledge base.
Keeping a Notebook Out
Write its path in Notebooks to keep out. A notebook listed there stays out even when the notebook above it is in the send list. For example, send Work/Support and keep out Work/Support/Drafts.
How Updates Work
Leave Send changes as they happen switched on. The plugin then watches your notes and updates Asyntai a few seconds after each change:
- You edit a note, and the entry in the knowledge base is replaced.
- You delete a note, and the entry goes.
- You move a note out of the chosen notebooks, and the entry goes.
- You move a note in, and it is sent.
Press Send all notes at any time to bring everything into line at once.
Tip: A note with fewer than 120 characters of text is treated as a stub and is not sent. Write more in it and it goes up on the next change.
Commands
The plugin adds four commands under Tools → Asyntai AI Chatbot: show or hide the panel, send this note, remove this note, and send all notes.
Removing It
Open Tools → Options → Plugins, find Asyntai AI Chatbot, and press Delete. To clear the knowledge base as well, press Remove this note on each note first, or delete the entries in your Asyntai dashboard.
Privacy
The notes you choose are sent to your own Asyntai account. Privacy policy.
