ownCloud Integration
Put an AI assistant on every page of your ownCloud
Overview
ownCloud is a file sharing and collaboration server that companies run on their own hardware. The Asyntai app adds the chat assistant to every page of it: the Files view, the settings, the login screen and public share links. Users click the chat button, ask a question in their own words, and get an answer from your own content, in more than 80 languages.
Typical use: an internal help desk that never sleeps. "How do I share a folder with someone outside the company?" "Where is the travel policy?" "Who do I ask for a new laptop?" The assistant answers, so your team does not have to.
How It Works
The app adds one small loader script to each page. The script waits for the page to finish drawing, then loads the assistant, so ownCloud is drawn first and page speed does not change. The assistant answers from the pages, documents and websites you gave Asyntai in your dashboard.
ownCloud blocks outside addresses by default. The app opens that policy for the Asyntai service only, and only while the chat is switched on.
Requirements
- ownCloud Server 10.11 or newer, on PHP 7.4
- An Asyntai account, free plan or higher
- Administrator rights in ownCloud
Installation
Follow these steps to add Asyntai to ownCloud:
Install the App
Open the ownCloud Marketplace, find Asyntai AI Chatbot, and press Install. Or download the app package, unpack it into the apps folder of your server, and enable it under Settings → Apps.
Copy Your Widget ID
Sign in to Asyntai, open Install, and copy the snippet. It holds your widget ID, which starts with asyntai_.
Paste It in ownCloud
In ownCloud, open Settings → Admin → Asyntai AI Chatbot. Paste the snippet or only the widget ID into the Asyntai widget ID box and press Save.
Open Any Page
Reload ownCloud. The chat button sits in the bottom right corner of every page.
Settings
- Asyntai widget ID: the ID from your Asyntai dashboard. Leave it empty to switch the chat off.
- Show to users who are logged in: the chat on the normal interface.
- Show on the login screen and on public share pages: the chat for visitors who are not signed in.
- Script address: only for a self hosted copy of the widget. Leave it empty to use the standard address.
Tip: Give Asyntai your internal help pages and policies as knowledge, and the assistant answers the questions your team asks most.
Removing It
Open Settings → Apps, find Asyntai AI Chatbot, and press Disable. The chat button disappears from every page at once.
Privacy
The chat runs in the browser of the user and talks to Asyntai from there. Privacy policy.
Plans & Pricing
The app is free. It works with every Asyntai plan, including the free plan. View pricing.
