Obsidian Integration

Turn your Obsidian notes into the knowledge base of your website chatbot

Create Account

Overview

Obsidian is a notes app that keeps your notes as Markdown files on your computer. The Asyntai plugin connects your vault to your website chatbot. Choose the folders, and every note in them becomes an answer the assistant can give your visitors.

The plugin also opens a panel inside Obsidian. Ask your chatbot a question there, read the latest website chats and leads, and save any chat as a note.

What It Does

  • Sends notes to the knowledge base. Every note in the chosen folders goes to Asyntai. Each edit, rename or delete updates it within seconds.
  • Answers questions inside Obsidian. The panel gives you the same answer the chatbot gives your visitors. Insert it into the note you are writing.
  • Shows website chats and leads. The panel lists the latest conversations and every visitor who left an email address or phone number.

Requirements

  • Obsidian 1.4 or later, on desktop or mobile
  • An Asyntai account on the Starter plan or higher, because the plugin uses the Asyntai API

Installation

Follow these steps to connect Obsidian to Asyntai:

1

Get Your API Key

Sign in to Asyntai, open Settings, then API, and copy your API key.

2

Install the Plugin

In Obsidian, open Settings → Community plugins → Browse, search for Asyntai AI Chatbot, press Install, then Enable.

3

Paste the API Key

Open Settings → Asyntai AI Chatbot, paste the key into the API key box, and press Check. The page shows your account email when the key works.

4

Choose the Folders

Under Folders to send, write one folder per line, for example Support. Subfolders are included. Write / for the whole vault. Use Folders to keep out for drafts or private notes inside those folders.

5

Send the Notes

Press Send all. The status bar at the bottom of Obsidian shows how many notes are in the knowledge base. From now on, every change in those folders goes to Asyntai on its own.

The Panel

Press the Asyntai icon in the left ribbon, or run the command Asyntai: Open panel. The panel has three tabs:

  • Ask: type a question, and the chatbot answers from your knowledge base. Press Insert into note to put the answer at the cursor.
  • Chats: the latest website conversations. Open one to read every message, and press Save as note to keep it in your vault.
  • Leads: every visitor who left an email address or phone number, with the page they were on.

Commands

CommandWhat it does
Asyntai: Open panelOpens the Ask, Chats and Leads panel
Asyntai: Send this note to the knowledge baseSends the open note at once, from any folder
Asyntai: Remove this note from the knowledge baseDeletes the entry of the open note
Asyntai: Send all notes in the chosen foldersSends every changed note and removes notes that left the folders

How Notes Are Sent

The plugin sends the text of the note. The front matter is removed and the Markdown syntax becomes plain text: headings and emphasis keep their words, links keep their label, and embeds and images are dropped. The title is the title field in the front matter, or else the file name.

The plugin remembers which knowledge base entry belongs to which note, so an edit replaces the entry instead of adding a second one. A note shorter than 120 characters is skipped, because it is too short to answer anything.

Tip: Give each note one topic and a clear title, for example Shipping times or Warranty. The chatbot finds the right note faster, and the answer is more exact.

Removing It

Press Remove all in the plugin settings to delete every sent note from the knowledge base. Your notes in Obsidian stay. Then disable the plugin under Community plugins.

Plans & Pricing

The plugin is free. It uses the Asyntai API, which needs the Starter plan or higher. View pricing.
