Voice Agent

Let your visitors and callers talk to your AI agent

Open Voice Agent
Standard, Pro & Enterprise Plans

Overview

The voice agent answers spoken questions. It uses the same knowledge base, AI Instructions and Custom Tools as your chat, so it gives the same answers, out loud.

People can talk to it in two places:

  • In your chat widget: a voice button lets visitors start a call from your website.
  • On your phone numbers: connect your Twilio account and the agent answers your calls.

Set Up the Voice Agent

1

Open the Voice Agent page

Sign in and open the Voice Agent page. Make sure the right website is selected at the top of the page.

2

Make a test call

Press Call and allow the microphone when your browser asks. Ask the agent a question the way a visitor would.

3

Set your greeting

Press Greeting, write what the agent says when a call starts, and press Save. This step is optional.

4

Turn on the voice button

Switch on Voice button in your chat widget. Visitors see the button the next time they open the chat.

5

Connect your phone number

Press Connect your phone number to answer calls to your Twilio numbers. This step is optional.

The Voice Button in Your Chat Widget

When the voice button is on, a waveform button shows next to the message box while the box is empty. A visitor taps it, allows the microphone, and talks to the agent. The call fills the chat window, and the visitor can end it at any time.

  • What the visitor and the agent say is added to the chat as text, and the conversation is stored in your dashboard like any other chat.
  • Visitors who do not allow the microphone keep typing in the chat as usual.
  • When the voice button is off, your chat widget looks and works exactly as before.

Greeting

Every call starts with the same sentence, so the person always knows they are talking to an AI:

“You are talking to an AI assistant.”

Your greeting comes right after it. If you leave the greeting empty, the agent says the default: “Hi! How can I help you today?”

  • The greeting can be up to 200 characters long.
  • The agent says the greeting out loud, so links, emoji and text formatting are removed when you save it.
  • The same greeting is used in the chat widget and on phone calls.

Tip: Name your business in the greeting and say what the agent can help with, for example: Welcome to Bloom Florists. Ask me about flowers, delivery or opening hours.

Phone Calls

Connect your own Twilio account and import your numbers, and the agent answers every call to them. It can also pass a caller to your team or take a callback request. The setup is in Phone Calls with Twilio. Read the guide

Languages

The voice agent speaks English. Your knowledge base can be in any language: the agent answers from it in English.

Other languages are available on request. Write to us at [email protected].

Voice Minutes and Calls at the Same Time

Your plan includes a number of voice minutes each month, and a number of calls that can run at the same time. Calls in the chat widget and phone calls use the same minutes. The Voice Agent page shows how many minutes you have used this month.

  • Each answer the agent gives also counts as one message, the same as in the chat.
  • When all your calls at the same time are in use, a new caller is asked to try again in a few minutes.
  • When the minutes for the month are used up, the voice button is hidden and phone calls are declined with a short message until your minutes reset.

Need more? The Custom Pro plan adds more voice minutes and more calls at the same time. Build your plan

Change the Settings with MCP or the API

The voice button and the greeting are widget settings, so you can also change them from Claude, ChatGPT or the REST API:

  • voice_button_enabled: true or false
  • voice_greeting: the greeting text, or empty for the default

With MCP, use the get_widget_settings and update_widget_settings tools. Read the MCP guide
