Accessibility Statement
Last Updated: 22.10.2026
We want every visitor to be able to use the Asyntai chat widget, including people who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, or other assistive technology.
This statement covers the Asyntai chat widget: the chat button, the chat window, its menus and its forms, as our customers add them to their websites.
1. Standard
We build and test the chat widget against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. WCAG 2.2 Level AA is also the basis of the European standard EN 301 549, which the European Accessibility Act refers to.
2. What the chat widget supports
Keyboard
- The chat button can be reached with the Tab key and opened with Enter or Space.
- When the chat opens from the keyboard, the cursor moves to the message field.
- The Escape key closes the chat, and focus returns to the chat button.
- While the chat is closed, the Tab key skips its controls.
- The menu, the conversation history and the phone country list work with the keyboard, including the arrow keys.
- A visible focus ring shows where the keyboard is. It does not appear on mouse clicks or touch.
- The chat does not trap the keyboard. Visitors can always move back to the website with the Tab key.
Screen readers
- Every button and field has a name in the visitor's browser language. The widget includes these names in 36 languages.
- The chat window is announced as a dialog with the name of the assistant.
- Each new reply is read out once it has finished arriving.
- Screen readers hear whether the chat and its menus are open or closed.
Contrast and colours
- With the default colours, text has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 and icons at least 3:1.
- Customers can choose their own brand colours. When white text on a chosen colour would be hard to read, the widget automatically switches that text to a dark colour on the message bubbles, the header and the chat button.
- Links in replies are darkened only as far as needed to stay readable on the message bubble, and are underlined when their colour alone does not set them apart from the text around them.
Motion and touch
- Visitors whose device is set to reduce motion see the widget without animations.
- Buttons are at least 24 by 24 pixels, or have enough space around them.
3. How we test
We test the chat widget with:
- automated checks with axe-core in Chrome;
- manual keyboard tests: opening, using and closing the chat without a mouse;
- contrast measurement of every visible text in the chat window;
- checks of the automatic text colours with brand colours that our customers use.
Last test: October 2026.
4. Content added by our customers
Our customers write their own messages, add their own knowledge base and choose their own colours and launcher style. Each customer is responsible for the accessibility of that content and of the website that shows the widget.
5. Feedback
If you find a part of the chat widget that you cannot use, please email us at [email protected]. Tell us the website, your browser and the assistive technology you use, and we will work on a fix.
