AI receptionist cost, broken down line by line
Running an AI receptionist with Asyntai means two bills: your Asyntai plan, which includes the voice minutes, and your own Twilio account, which carries the phone number and the call minutes. This page lists every part, what it covers and who charges for it.
Two plans include the AI receptionist
Phone calls and the website voice button are part of the Voice Agent, which comes with the Standard and Pro plans. Both prices are per month; the lower figure is the monthly price when you pay for a year.
- $125 a month billed annually
- 200 voice minutes a month
- 5 calls at the same time
- 15,000 AI replies a month
- $404 a month billed annually
- 1,500 voice minutes a month
- 10 calls at the same time
- 50,000 AI replies a month
Each answer the agent gives on a call counts as one AI reply, as in the website chat. For more voice minutes than Pro includes, write to [email protected].
What you pay, and who bills you for it
The phone side runs through your own Twilio account, so Twilio bills its charges straight to you, at Twilio's own rates.
| Cost part | Billed by | How it is charged |
|---|---|---|
| Asyntai plan | Asyntai | A fixed monthly price: Standard $139 or Pro $449 ($125 or $404 a month billed annually). It includes the voice minutes, the calls at the same time, the AI replies and the website chat. |
| Phone number | Twilio | A monthly rental for each number on your Twilio account. The price depends on the country and the type of number. |
| Call minutes | Twilio | A per-minute charge for the calls that reach your Twilio number, at Twilio's rates for that number. |
| Transfers to a person | Twilio | When the agent puts a caller through to your desk or a mobile, Twilio bills that leg as a normal outgoing call. |
| Forwarding from your current line | Your phone provider | Only if you forward calls from an existing number to the Twilio number. The terms depend on your provider. |
Current Twilio rates for each country are on the Twilio voice pricing page.
One price for the receptionist, the knowledge and the chat
The Asyntai plan is not a per-call fee. It is a monthly allowance that covers the phone agent, the website voice button and the text chat on your website, all answering from the same content.
- Voice minutes200 a month on Standard, 1,500 on Pro. Phone calls and conversations through the website voice button use the same minutes.
- Calls at the same time5 on Standard, 10 on Pro. A caller who rings when every line is in use hears that the lines are busy and is asked to call again in a few minutes.
- AI replies15,000 a month on Standard, 50,000 on Pro, shared between calls and the website chat. Each answer on a call is one reply.
How many calls fit in a month of voice minutes
Many receptionist calls are short: a question about hours, a price, a document, a request to call back. Here is what the included minutes cover if the average call takes 3 minutes. The figures are the Asyntai part only; Twilio's charges come on top.
- Standard: about 66 calls a month200 minutes divided by 3 is about 66 full calls. At $139 a month, that is roughly $2.10 of plan price per call if you use every minute.
- Pro: about 500 calls a month1,500 minutes divided by 3 is 500 calls. At $449 a month, that is roughly $0.90 of plan price per call if you use every minute.
- AI replies leave plenty of roomSay the agent gives 8 answers in a 3-minute call. 500 calls on Pro use 4,000 of the 50,000 AI replies, which leaves the rest for your website chat.
Hear the receptionist first, then add the phone costs
You can talk to the agent in your browser before you rent a number from Twilio. The Twilio charges start when you rent a number and calls reach it.
- Create your Asyntai account and add your website. Upload a fee list or a client checklist so the agent can answer price questions from your own figures.
- Make a free test call in your browser on the Voice Agent page. Time a few typical calls to estimate your average call length.
- Pick the plan that fits your call volume. Multiply your expected calls by the average length and compare it with 200 and 1,500 minutes.
- Connect Twilio on the Phone Calls page and import your number. Add a transfer number next to it, and set your hours under Escalation.
AI receptionist cost: common questions
The billing details people check before they put an AI receptionist on their phone line.
Which Asyntai plans include the AI receptionist?
The Standard plan at $139 a month and the Pro plan at $449 a month, or $125 and $404 a month when billed annually. The Free and Starter plans cover the website chat, and the voice agent starts on Standard.
Do I pay Asyntai per call?
No. The plan price is fixed for the month and includes a set number of voice minutes: 200 on Standard and 1,500 on Pro. You can take as many calls as fit into those minutes.
What will Twilio charge me?
Twilio bills your own account for the phone number's monthly rental and for the call minutes. The rates depend on the country and the type of number, and Twilio lists them on its voice pricing page.
Do transfers to my office cost extra?
When the agent puts a caller through to your desk or mobile, Twilio bills that leg as a normal outgoing call from your Twilio number, on the same Twilio invoice as your other calls.
What happens when the voice minutes run out?
Calls are declined with a short message until the minutes reset. If you regularly come close to the limit, move up to Pro, or write to [email protected] if you need more minutes than Pro includes.
Do conversations on the website voice button use the same minutes?
Yes. Phone calls and voice conversations in your website chat share the plan's voice minutes, and both use the same knowledge base.
Does each answer count as an AI reply?
Yes. Each answer the agent gives on a call counts as one AI reply, as in the website chat. Standard includes 15,000 replies a month and Pro 50,000, so on calls alone the voice minutes are usually the allowance you reach first.
How do I estimate which plan I need?
Multiply the calls you expect in a month by the average call length. If the total is under 200 minutes, Standard fits; up to 1,500 minutes, Pro fits. The plan finder asks a few questions and suggests a plan.
Is paying yearly cheaper?
Yes. Billed annually, Standard comes to $125 a month instead of $139, and Pro to $404 a month instead of $449. The minutes, the calls at the same time and the AI replies stay the same.
Working out the real cost of an AI receptionist
Searching for the cost of an AI receptionist usually turns up a headline price and little else. The headline matters, but it rarely tells you what the phone line will cost at the end of the month. To get that figure you need to know what the plan includes, which parts are billed somewhere else, and how many calls your business actually takes. This page puts those pieces in one place for Asyntai: the plan prices, the charges that come from Twilio, a worked example of how many calls fit in a month, and what happens at the limits.
The first part is the Asyntai plan. The AI receptionist is part of the Voice Agent, which is included on two plans. Standard costs $139 a month, or $125 a month billed annually, and includes 200 voice minutes, 5 calls at the same time and 15,000 AI replies a month. Pro costs $449 a month, or $404 a month billed annually, and includes 1,500 voice minutes, 10 calls at the same time and 50,000 AI replies. The plan price also covers the chat on your website, which answers from the same knowledge base, so you are not paying twice for two assistants. Custom Tools, for looking up live data such as an order status in your own system through an API, are available on both plans.
The second part is the phone line itself. Asyntai answers numbers in your own Twilio account, and Twilio bills you directly. There are two kinds of Twilio charge to plan for: a monthly rental for each phone number, and a per-minute charge for the calls that reach it. Both depend on the country and the type of number, so the honest answer is to check the current figures on the Twilio voice pricing page for the country you operate in. You pay Twilio's own rates and see them on Twilio's invoice.
The third part is easy to overlook: transfers. When a caller asks for a person, the agent can put them through to your office line or a mobile during the hours you set. Twilio bills that transferred leg as a normal outgoing call from your Twilio number. If transfers are a large share of your calls, add those outgoing minutes to your Twilio estimate. And if you keep your existing number and forward calls to the Twilio number, check what your current phone provider charges for forwarded calls. Outside your escalation hours, a caller who asks for a person gets a callback request instead of a transfer: the agent takes the name and number, reads the number back, and emails the request to your team.
With the parts in place, the useful question becomes how many calls the plan covers. The answer depends on how long your calls are. Receptionist calls tend to be short: a question about opening hours, a price, an address, a request for a callback. If your average call lasts 3 minutes, Standard's 200 minutes cover about 66 calls a month and Pro's 1,500 minutes cover 500. At 2 minutes a call, that becomes 100 and 750. At 5 minutes, 40 and 300. Spread across the plan price, a 3-minute call works out at roughly $2.10 of Asyntai cost on a fully used Standard plan, and roughly $0.90 on a fully used Pro plan, before Twilio's charges.
AI replies are the other allowance on the plan. Each answer the agent gives on a call counts as one reply, the same as a reply in the website chat. On calls alone, the voice minutes are usually used up long before the replies. Even a busy Pro month of 500 calls, with 8 answers per call, uses 4,000 of the 50,000 replies, which leaves most of the allowance for your website chat.
It is worth knowing what happens at the edges. If every line is in use, a new caller hears that the lines are busy and is asked to call again in a few minutes, so the number of calls at the same time is part of the plan choice for businesses with sharp peaks. When the month's voice minutes are used up, calls are declined with a short message until the minutes reset. If your volume is larger than Pro covers, write to [email protected] about more minutes. Switching a number off is another lever: a switched-off number declines calls with a short message, which suits a seasonal line you only want answered for part of the year.
The simplest way to estimate your own cost is to measure. Set up the agent with your website and documents, make a few test calls in your browser, and time them. Then look at your phone records for a typical month and count the calls you would want the agent to answer. Multiply the two, compare the result with 200 and 1,500 minutes, and add your Twilio estimate. The plan finder can help with the plan choice. After the first month, the Voice Agent page shows how many of your minutes were used and Twilio shows the phone charges, so you will have real figures instead of an estimate.
A last point on value. Every call the agent answers is saved as a conversation in your dashboard with the full transcript, and callers who leave a phone number or email address can be saved as leads. That record shows you what your callers ask, which answers your website is missing, and which calls really needed a person, which makes the monthly bill easier to judge against what the line is doing for you.
