Learn how to use Asyntai

Typemill Plugin

Add the Asyntai AI chat assistant to your Typemill site

Create Account

Overview

Typemill is a flat-file CMS for documentation, manuals and small websites. The Asyntai plugin adds the chat assistant to your Typemill site. Put the plugin in your site, paste your widget ID, switch it on, and the chat bubble is on every page.

The assistant answers your visitors from your own pages, in more than 80 languages, day and night. On a documentation site, visitors ask a question and get the answer from your manual.

Requirements

  • Typemill 2
  • An Asyntai account. The Free plan is enough to try the widget

Installation

Follow these steps to add Asyntai to your Typemill site:

1

Get Your Widget ID

Sign in to Asyntai and open the Install page. The widget ID is the value of data-asyntai-id in the snippet shown there. It starts with asyntai_.

2

Add the Plugin Folder

Download asyntai.zip from the latest release on GitHub and unpack it into the plugins folder of your Typemill site. The folder is named asyntai:

plugins/asyntai/asyntai.php
plugins/asyntai/asyntai.yaml
3

Add Your Widget ID

Log in to Typemill and open System > Plugins. Click Configure under Asyntai AI Chatbot, paste your widget ID and click Save.

4

Switch It On

Tick Active next to the plugin. Open your website, and the chat bubble is in the corner of every page.

How It Works

The plugin adds a small script to every page of your website. The script loads the widget after the page has finished loading, so your own content always renders first.

Typemill protects your site with a Content-Security-Policy header. The plugin adds the Asyntai hosts to that header, so the browser loads the widget. Your own security settings stay as they are.

The Typemill admin area and the editor stay as they are. The settings form accepts only an ID that starts with asyntai_.

Answering From Your Content

Asyntai reads your published pages. Add your site URL in the dashboard, and the assistant answers from the same pages the widget sits on. You can also add documents, and question and answer pairs.

Tip: If you show your own embeds in the chat, for example a booking page, add their domains in Typemill under System > Developer > Allowed Domains for Content on Typemill (CSP-Headers).

Removing It

Untick Active under System > Plugins, or delete the plugins/asyntai folder. The chat bubble is gone.
