Espanso Package

Type :ask in any app and get the answer your own AI chatbot gives, typed right where you write

Overview

Espanso is a popular open source text expander for Windows, macOS and Linux. You type a short trigger and Espanso replaces it with text. The Asyntai AI Assistant package turns that into answers from your own website. In your email, your help desk, Slack, Word or any browser form, type :ask, write a question, and Espanso types the answer your Asyntai agent gives, with the same facts, prices and links your visitors get.

Triggers

  • :ask opens a small form. Write a question, press Enter, and the answer is typed where your cursor is.
  • :clipask answers the text on your clipboard. Copy a customer's question from an email or a ticket, type :clipask in your reply, and the answer is typed in.
  • :asyntaikey saves your Asyntai API key. You do this one time.

Links in an answer are typed as text with the address in brackets, so they work in plain text fields too.

Requirements

  • Espanso 2 on Windows, macOS or Linux
  • On macOS and Linux: Python 3. The package uses only the Python standard library, so there is nothing else to install.
  • An Asyntai account on the Starter plan or higher, because the package uses the Asyntai API

Installation

Follow these steps to add Asyntai to Espanso:

Install the Package

Open a terminal and run espanso install asyntai-ai-assistant.

Get Your API Key

Sign in to Asyntai, open Settings, then API, and copy your API key.

Save the Key

Open an empty text field, for example a new note, and type :asyntaikey. Paste the key and press Enter. Asyntai checks the key, and Espanso types a short confirmation with the name of your website.

Ask a Question

Type :ask anywhere, write your question and press Enter.

Tip: For support replies, copy the customer's whole message and type :clipask in your reply. Your agent reads the full message and answers it.

Removing It

Run espanso uninstall asyntai-ai-assistant in a terminal.

The package is free. It uses the Asyntai API, which needs the Starter plan or higher. View pricing.
