Adding it to a Docsy site

Docsy has hook partials for your own code. The theme version of head-end.html is empty, and your copy goes just before the end of the head.

Get your snippet

Create a free Asyntai account, add your docs URL and copy the snippet.

Make the hooks folder

In your Hugo project, create layouts/_partials/hooks.

Add head-end.html

Paste the snippet into a new file named head-end.html in that folder.

Build and deploy

Run hugo and deploy as usual. Netlify or GitHub Actions builds work the same way.

Sites on older Hugo versions use layouts/partials/hooks instead of layouts/_partials/hooks.

Do I need to fork the theme?

No. Your project file replaces the empty placeholder from the theme. The theme itself stays untouched.

Does it work with the Hugo module or npm setup?

Yes. The hook file sits in your project, so it works however you load Docsy.

What about versioned docs?

Add the same file to each version branch you build. The chat then appears on every version.

Can I use the body-end hook instead?

Yes. hooks/body-end.html runs at the end of the scripts partial. Use one of the two.

Does it read the reference pages?

It reads every published page, including long reference tables. Crawl again after a release.

Can it collect bug reports?

Yes. It saves the version, error text and contact so maintainers can follow up.
