How to Add Asyntai AI Chatbot to Ecwid
Step-by-step guide for Ecwid stores
Step 1: Get Your Embed Code
First, go to your Asyntai Dashboard and scroll down to the "Embed Code" section. Copy your unique embed code which will look like this:
<script async src="https://asyntai.com/static/js/chat-widget.js" data-asyntai-id="YOUR_WIDGET_ID"></script>
Note: The code above is just an example. You must copy your own unique embed code from your Dashboard as it contains your personal widget ID.
Step 2: Choose Installation Method
There are several ways to add the chat widget to your Ecwid store. Choose the method that works best for your setup:
Method 1: Using Instant Site Editor (Recommended)
If you're using Ecwid's Instant Site, you can add custom code sections directly through the site editor. This method is available on Venture, Business, and Unlimited plans.
Adding Custom Code Section
- Log in to your Ecwid admin panel
- Go to Website → Edit Site (or Overview → Manage Instant Site)
- From the "Page: Homepage" dropdown in the upper left corner, select the page where you want to add the chatbot (or keep Homepage for site-wide)
- Click "Add Section"
- Scroll down to "Advanced Solutions"
- In the "Embed & Custom Code" block, click "Add Custom Code Section"
- Paste your Asyntai embed code
- Click "Save"
Tip: Adding the code to the Homepage will make it appear on all pages. For best performance, add JavaScript to the body section rather than the header.
Method 2: Using Custom JavaScript Code Section
You can add custom JavaScript code through the advanced website settings in your Ecwid dashboard. This method requires a paid Ecwid plan.
- Log in to your Ecwid admin panel
- Go to Website (or Overview → Manage Instant Site)
- Scroll down to "Advanced website settings"
- Under "Custom JavaScript code", click "Add Code"
- Paste your Asyntai embed code in the field that appears
- Click "Save"
- Refresh your Instant Site page in your browser to see the changes
Note: The Custom JavaScript code section has a 4000 character limit. The Asyntai embed code is well under this limit. Code added here will appear at the bottom of the <body> section.
Method 3: External Website with Ecwid Store
If you've embedded your Ecwid store on an external website (WordPress, Wix, custom HTML, etc.), you should add the Asyntai code to that website instead.
For WordPress with Ecwid Plugin
- Follow the WordPress installation guide
- Add the Asyntai embed code to your WordPress site using the WPCode plugin or theme files
- The chatbot will appear on all pages, including those with your Ecwid store
For Other Platforms
If your Ecwid store is embedded on another platform:
- Find the appropriate installation guide for your platform
- Add the Asyntai embed code to that platform
- The chatbot will work alongside your embedded Ecwid store
Why add code to the external site? When Ecwid is embedded on another website, the parent website controls the page. Adding the chatbot to the parent site ensures it loads properly and appears on all pages.
Step 3: Verify Installation
After adding the code, visit your Ecwid store in a new browser tab or incognito window. You should see the chat widget button in the bottom right corner of your store. Click it to make sure it opens and works correctly.
Not seeing the widget? Clear your browser cache and refresh the page. Make sure you have a paid Ecwid plan, as custom JavaScript features require Venture, Business, or Unlimited plans.
