Setup with the Python package

Asyntai has a free Dash package on PyPI. You install it and call init_app after you create the app, and the chat shows on every page. Four steps, five minutes.

Copy your widget ID

Sign in to Asyntai and open the Install page. Your widget ID is the data-asyntai-id value in the snippet. You can also paste the whole snippet.

Install the package

Run pip install dash-ai-chatbot, or add it to your requirements.

Add one line

After you create the app, call dash_ai_chatbot.init_app(app, widget_id="YOUR_ID"). On Dash 3 and newer, you can skip this step.

Run, and you're live

Restart the app and open it. The chat bubble is in the corner of every page, every page of a multi-page app included.

On Dash 3 and newer, set ASYNTAI_WIDGET_ID in the environment, and every Dash app that runs with it shows the chat, with no code change. Without the variable, the package does nothing.

Do I need to change my layout?

No. The package adds the chat to every page of the app. You do not add a component to your layout.

Which versions does it support?

The package works with Dash 2.0 and newer, on Python 3.10 or newer. The no-code mode with only an environment variable needs Dash 3 or newer.

Will it slow down my dashboard?

No. The chat script loads asynchronously in the browser. Your callbacks, queries and charts run as before.

How does the chatbot learn about my app?

Add your docs site, help pages or FAQ in the Asyntai dashboard. You can also upload documents, for example a data dictionary, and add question and answer pairs.

How does the no-code mode work?

Dash 3 runs plugin hooks from installed packages. Install dash-ai-chatbot and set ASYNTAI_WIDGET_ID, and every Dash app that runs with that variable shows the chat.

Can I keep the widget ID out of my code?

Yes. Call init_app(app) with no widget ID, and the package reads ASYNTAI_WIDGET_ID each time it builds the page.

Does it answer readers who speak another language?

Yes. The chatbot detects the reader's language and replies in it, even if your docs are only in English.

Can I use it on several sites?

Yes. Each site has its own setup and knowledge base. The Free plan covers 1 site, Starter 2, Standard 3 and Pro up to 20 sites.
