WhatsApp Business Integration

Connect Asyntai AI to WhatsApp for automated customer support

Connect WhatsApp

Overview

Asyntai's WhatsApp integration enables your AI chatbot to automatically respond to customer messages on WhatsApp Business. Your customers can message your business WhatsApp number and receive instant, intelligent AI-powered responses 24/7.

Plan Requirement: WhatsApp integration is available on Starter, Standard, and Pro plans.

Prerequisites

Before setting up the WhatsApp integration, you need:

- A Meta Business account

- A WhatsApp Business API app created in the Meta for Developers portal

- A verified WhatsApp Business phone number

- An Asyntai account with Starter plan or higher

How to Install

Follow these steps to connect Asyntai to your WhatsApp Business account:

1

Set Up WhatsApp Cloud API

If you haven't already, set up WhatsApp Cloud API in Meta Business:

1. Go to Meta for Developers

2. Create or select an app with WhatsApp product

3. Navigate to WhatsApp → API Setup

4. Add and verify your business phone number

Note: The phone number cannot be registered on the WhatsApp mobile app - it must be dedicated to the API.

2

Get Your Credentials

From the WhatsApp API Setup page, copy:

- Phone Number ID - A numeric ID for your WhatsApp number

- Access Token - Your API access token (generate a permanent token for production)

Important: For production use, generate a permanent access token in System Users settings. Temporary tokens expire after 24 hours.

3

Connect to Asyntai

Visit the WhatsApp Setup page and enter your Phone Number ID and Access Token. Click "Connect WhatsApp" to validate and save your configuration.

4

Configure Webhook in Meta Business

After connecting, you'll receive a Callback URL and Verify Token. Add these to your Meta app:

1. Go to your Meta App → WhatsApp → Configuration

2. Click "Edit" under Webhook

3. Enter the Callback URL provided by Asyntai

4. Enter the Verify Token provided by Asyntai

5. Click "Verify and Save"

6. Subscribe to the messages webhook field

Callback URL: https://asyntai.com/whatsapp/webhook/
5

Test the Integration

Send a message from any phone to your WhatsApp Business number. You should receive an AI-generated response within seconds.

6

Customize Your AI

Go to your Asyntai Dashboard to add custom instructions, upload FAQs and knowledge base content, configure response tone, and view conversation history.

How It Works

Once connected, here's what happens when a customer messages your WhatsApp number:

1. Customer sends a WhatsApp message to your business number

2. Meta's webhook sends the message to Asyntai

3. Asyntai's AI processes the message using your knowledge base

4. An intelligent response is generated and sent back via WhatsApp

5. The conversation is logged in your Asyntai dashboard

The AI maintains conversation context, so follow-up questions are understood in relation to previous messages.

Supported Message Types

Asyntai can respond to text messages and media with captions. For media-only messages (images without captions, voice notes, etc.), the AI acknowledges receipt but cannot process the content.

Limitations

The WhatsApp integration supports textual replies only. Extra features available within the website widget (such as product cards, images, rich formatting, and interactive elements) may not work inside WhatsApp due to platform constraints.

The phone number used for the integration cannot be registered on the WhatsApp mobile app - it must be dedicated to the API. If you need to manually reply to customers, you can use the Meta Business Suite Inbox.

Pricing

WhatsApp integration is included in paid Asyntai plans:

- Starter ($39/mo) - 2,500 messages/month

- Standard ($139/mo) - 15,000 messages/month

- Pro ($449/mo) - 50,000 messages/month

Note: WhatsApp Cloud API has its own pricing for conversations. See WhatsApp pricing for details.

Troubleshooting

Webhook not verifying

Ensure the Callback URL and Verify Token are copied exactly as shown in Asyntai. The URL must be https://asyntai.com/whatsapp/webhook/ (with trailing slash).

Messages not being received

Check that you've subscribed to the "messages" webhook field in Meta Business. Also verify your access token hasn't expired.

Responses not being sent

Ensure your WhatsApp number is properly verified and the access token has the necessary permissions. Check the 24-hour messaging window hasn't expired.

Invalid credentials error

Double-check your Phone Number ID and Access Token. For production, use a permanent access token generated from System Users.
