Facebook Messenger Integration
Connect Asyntai AI to Messenger for automated customer support
Overview
Asyntai's Messenger integration enables your AI chatbot to automatically respond to customer messages on Facebook Messenger. Your customers can message your Facebook Page and receive instant, intelligent AI-powered responses 24/7.
Plan Requirement: Messenger integration is available on Starter, Standard, and Pro plans.
Prerequisites
Before setting up the Messenger integration, you need:
- A Facebook Page for your business
- An app created in the Meta for Developers portal with Messenger product enabled
- An Asyntai account with Starter plan or higher
How to Install
Follow these steps to connect Asyntai to your Facebook Page's Messenger:
Create a Meta App
Create an app in Meta for Developers:
1. Go to Meta for Developers
2. Click "My Apps" then "Create App"
3. Select "Business" as the app type
4. Add the Messenger product to your app
Get Your Credentials
From the Messenger Settings page:
1. Navigate to Messenger then Settings
2. Under Access Tokens, click "Add or Remove Pages"
3. Connect your Facebook Page
4. Click Generate Token next to your Page
5. Copy the Page Access Token
6. Note your Page ID (shown in the Access Tokens section)
Tip: For production, generate a long-lived access token or use a System User token that doesn't expire.
Connect to Asyntai
Visit the Messenger Setup page and enter your credentials:
- Page ID (required)
- Page Access Token (required)
- App Secret (optional - for webhook signature verification)
Click "Connect Messenger" to validate and save your configuration.
Configure Webhook in Meta Business
After connecting, you'll receive a Callback URL and Verify Token. Add these to your Meta app:
1. Go to your Meta App then Messenger then Settings
2. Scroll to Webhooks and click "Add Callback URL"
3. Enter the Callback URL provided by Asyntai
4. Enter the Verify Token provided by Asyntai
5. Click "Verify and Save"
6. Subscribe to the messages webhook field
Callback URL: https://asyntai.com/messenger/webhook/
Test the Integration
Send a test message to verify everything works:
1. Go to your Facebook Page
2. Click "Message" or use Messenger to send a message to your Page
3. You should receive an AI-generated response within seconds
4. Check your Asyntai dashboard to see the conversation logged
Customize Your AI
Go to your Asyntai Dashboard to:
- Add custom instructions for Messenger responses
- Upload FAQs and knowledge base content
- Configure response tone and style
- View conversation history and analytics
How It Works
Once connected, here's what happens when a customer messages your Facebook Page:
1. Customer sends a Messenger message to your Facebook Page
2. Meta's webhook sends the message to Asyntai
3. Asyntai's AI processes the message using your knowledge base
4. An intelligent response is generated and sent back via Messenger
5. The conversation is logged in your Asyntai dashboard
The AI maintains conversation context, so follow-up questions are understood in relation to previous messages.
Supported Message Types
Asyntai can respond to text messages. For media-only messages (images, videos, voice notes, etc.), the AI acknowledges receipt but cannot process the visual/audio content.
Limitations
The Messenger integration supports textual replies only. Extra features available within the website widget (such as product cards, images, rich formatting, and interactive elements) may not work inside Messenger due to platform constraints.
Pricing
Messenger integration is included in paid Asyntai plans:
- Starter ($39/mo) - 2,500 messages/month
- Standard ($139/mo) - 15,000 messages/month
- Pro ($449/mo) - 50,000 messages/month
Troubleshooting
Webhook not verifying
Ensure the Callback URL and Verify Token are copied exactly as shown in Asyntai. The URL must be https://asyntai.com/messenger/webhook/ (with trailing slash).
Messages not being received
Check that you've subscribed to the "messages" webhook field in Meta Business. Also verify your access token hasn't expired.
Responses not being sent
Ensure your Page access token has the necessary permissions (pages_messaging). Check the token hasn't expired.
Invalid credentials error
Double-check your Page ID and Access Token. Make sure you're using a Page Access Token (not a User or App token).
